Integrative Counsellor

Hello ! My name is Janine and as a qualified Integrative Counsellor, I understand the bravery it can take to begin counselling. I focus on creating a warm, safe and accepting space, where all of you is welcome and where we can explore together whatever you may be grappling with and trying to make sense of. I believe our relationship holds the possibility for real human connection and transformation to occur and offer a free 15 minute consultation for us to begin to get to know each other.

I bring my full presence to each session, embodying empathic understanding, and compassionate curiosity. I listen deeply to both your conscious and unconscious experience, inviting you to gently slow down and mindfully explore your emerging feelings, sensations and thoughts. As the process unfolds, this experiencing of yourself can offer fresh awareness, insights and a deepening understanding of your core beliefs, choices and behaviours, enabling healing, integration and a felt sense of peace, ease and self-acceptance.

Within our work together I trust fully in your own unique process and inherent wisdom within your own body to guide each session, ensuring we go at your own pace of safety. I draw upon a number of different approaches, including person-centred, gestalt, existential, psychodynamic, somatic and parts work and adjust each session according to what you bring, because I believe in working with what is present in the here and now.

My working background has been supporting people to make positive and empowering changes in their lives, in both the public and private sectors, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. However, my own personal counselling journey significantly changed my life and it is this experience, as well as previous training as a spiritual counsellor, homoeopath and yoga teacher, which informs who I am as both a person and counsellor. I am currently working as a volunteer counsellor at St Elizabeth’s Hospice.

Although I counsel people with a range of different issues, I am passionate about grief work and the consequent existential questions which may arise around dying and death. I believe death touches every part of our selves, our lives and our relationships and would be honoured to accompany you, at what can be, a raw and tender time of your life. More recently, my love of experiential therapies and embodiment has led me to begin trainings in Hakomi and IFS approaches, which I will be bringing into the therapeutic space.

I hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling as well as an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am a member of both the BACP and the UKCP and bound by their Code of Ethics.
